Nunawading and Waverley Lutheran Church is a vibrant church in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. We are located in two worshipping centres, one in Glen Waverley and the other in Nunawading.
As a congregation we are currently revisiting our Vision and Mission, working through a process that will establish our values, purpose, vision and mission. At the end of 2025 we settled the first part, "Our Values", which we agreed are:

We receive the Gospel as a gift from God that comes through his Living Word – his Son, Jesus – spoken through the Word and enacted through the Sacraments.
We do nothing to receive the Gospel other than hear it; it is a pure gift that frees us from our brokenness and welcomes us into the Kingdom of God already now.

We live the Gospel by living free from guilt and fear, sharing Jesus' love with one another and all those God places on our path.
We live lives of generosity and mercy, inviting all people to experience God's love as we, too, experience it every day.

As people who have come to know the joys and freedom of the Gospel, one of our great loves is to share that joy with those who do not yet know Jesus.
We share the Gospel as a natural outworking of living 'in Christ', by caring for others and by speaking of God's love for all people.

Statement of Commitment to Child Safety 儿童安全承诺声明 बाल सुरक्षा प्रतिबद्धता का वक्तव्य
Nunawading and Waverley Lutheran Church is committed to providing a safe environment for children and young people. We believe children are a precious gift from God, with special vulnerabilities, who require nurture in their spiritual development, encouragement in their growth, and protection from all forms of abuse.
Jesus said, "Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me" (Mark 9:37). We take this calling seriously — welcoming children means ensuring they are safe among us.
We affirm that safeguarding children is a shared responsibility of our whole church community. As God's grace has been freely given to us, we seek to reflect that grace — so that every child who comes through our doors leaves feeling included, valued, empowered, encouraged, and uplifted. We have zero tolerance for child abuse in any form.
We uphold the Lutheran Church of Australia's Child Safety Standards, which guide how we recruit, train, and support those who work with children and young people in our congregations.
If you have any concerns about the safety of a child or young person, please speak with our pastor or a member of church council.
